Arts Awareness for Everyone

Mount le Conte

Watercolor and Pastels

I am interested in and practicing oil, watercolor, drawing, ceramics, crocheting, weaving, and have experience in hiking, backpacking, canoeing, and most outdoors activities from Oregon to Alabama, North Georgia, North Carolina, and Maine on the Appalachian Trail, as well as the Florida Trail in the Big Bend area. I like to include nature in my art work deliberately instead of by accident. I started drawing, wheel-throwing pottery, and weaving while in school at University of Western Oregon, and most of my artistic educational experience has been at Florida State University.

I feel that my artwork is influenced by years of self-reflection and what I have learned about myself I attempt to mold into an expression of my feelings about life through an art medium. I am a follower of Nichiren Buddhism and have been a member of the Buddhist lay organization called Soka Gakkai International-USA, which I became a member of in 2001.

I was born in Boulder, Colorado in 1953, lived in Norman, Oklahoma shortly after I was born, and moved to Tallahassee with my family in 1966. I have lived in Monmouth and Salem, Oregon in 1973-74 and 1980-81. I have also lived in Bonifay, FL when I was married, and currently live in Lloyd, Florida since 2003. I am not married at this time. My household friends are my five dogs, three cats, two birds, and 16 chickens; they all take up most of my time, love, and energy.
